The  department store Selfridges in London, has a new shoe gallery with more than 5,000 pairs of shoes from 12o brands, and a space of  35,000 sq ft. This new gallery is the biggest shoe department in the world. Just fab!

La tienda por departamentos Selfridges en Londres, tiene una tienda de zapatos con mas de 5,000 pares de zapatos de 120 marcas diferentes en un espacio de 35,000 pies cuadrados. Esta es la tienda mas grandes de zapatos del mundo. Fabuloso!

Yesterday I was hosting a dinner and I  received a Crystal Head Vodka bottle as a gift. The bottle is unusual, designed by American landscape artist John Alexander, it is shaped as a skull. I thought it was different and cool at the same time.

Ayer tuve una cena y recibí una botella de Vodka de la marca Crystal Head como regalo. La botella es muy diferente e inusual, diseñada por John Alexander, tiene forma de calavera. Me pareció creativa y cool a la misma vez.

A dear friend of mine, send me an article from 2008, featuring the “Hip Hop Crown Jewels”. The pieces below were feature in the auction sale by Phillips de Pury & Co, in 2008. Statement pieces from Missy Elliot, Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, 50 cents, Diddy, etc. were up for sale.

Hip Hop has conquer popular culture and it’s all about creating a larger than life and unique image, something that is reflected on each piece below. I think the pieces are visually stunning, cool  and fashion forward. Love them!

Una muy querida amiga, me envío un  artículo de año 2008, de la venta de las “Joyas Reales del Hip Hop” . Las piezas fotografiadas a continuación estuvieron en subasta por la casa Phillps de Pury & Co en el 2008. Joyas pertenecientes a Missy Elliot, Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, 50 Cents, Diddy, etc, estuvieron a la venta.

Hip Hop a conquistado la cultura popular y trata mas que todo, de crear una imagen ostentosa y única, algo que se ve reflejado en estas piezas. Pienso que las piezas son visualmente muy llamativas y cool. Me encantan!

fab candles…

As all of you know by now, I love scented candles. I have them everywhere around my house. And now I am in love with Alexa Rodulfo’s collection of scented candles. All her candles are made in Grasse, the world’s capital of perfume. They do not only smell exquisite, they also last forever, and they are so pretty !!   Her scents are amazing:  Bois Sauvage, Bois d’Alexa, Bois Blanc etc, Look for them in Bergdorf Goodman (New York), Lane Crawford (Hong Kong), Colette (Paris), Liberty (London)….and I heard through the grapevine that two more fragances are coming to this repertoire pretty soon…

My favorite…Bois d’Amour, but you all knew that. Don’t you?

Como todos saben me encantan las velas aromáticas. Las tengo alrededor de toda mi casa. Y ahora estoy fascinada con la colección de velas de Alexa Rodulfo. island house

I love summer, and enjoying the beach as much as I can is a must for me !!  This weekend, I am going to a friend’s beach house. The house reminds me so much of India Hicks’ house in Harbour Island, featured in the book Island Life.  It is simple, cozy, full of charm and super chic. (pics below)

I am so excited, that I am already packing and bringing her a “shell gift” as I do every summer. I know she will love it !!

Me encanta el verano, y disfrutar de la playa, es obligatorio para mi!!  Este fin de semana, voy a la casa de playa de una amiga. Su casa me recuerda mucho a la casa de India Hicks en Harbour Island, la cual fue publicada en el libro Island Life. Es simple, acogedora, llena de encanto y super chic. (ver fotos)

Estoy tan contenta, que ya estoy empacando, y llevo conmigo “regalo de caracol”  como todos los veranos. Espero que le guste!!

wired up

When I saw the book “Wired: Contemporary Zulu Telephone Wired Baskets” by David Arment and Marisa Fick-Jordaan, I fell in love with every piece featured in the book.

“Wired” showcases the work and development of wire weaving in South Africa. The multi colored, plastic-covered copper wires, become the most creative pieces with a wide variety of beautiful crafted patterns and color combination.

I was so happy, when I saw the August 2010 Veranda’s magazine  issue, featuring David Arment’s home, the co-author of the book. His collection of wired bowls, plates, glass bottle covers and more, is superb.  The way his collection is displayed is so pretty and artistic….I love it !! And hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Cuando vi el libro “Wired: Contemporary Zulu Telephone Wired Baskets” de David Arment and Marisa Fick-Jordaan, me enamore de todas las piezas que salen publicadas en el libro.

“Wired” muestra el trabajo y el desarrollo del tejido de alambre en Sur Africa. Los alambres de cobre, recubiertos de plásticos multicolores, se convierten en las piezas mas creativas, con variedad artesanal de patrones y combinaciones de colores espectaculares.

Me alegró mucho, cuando ví en la edición de Agosto 2010 de la revista Veranda, el reportaje de la casa David Arment, co-autor del libro. Su colección de platos, bandejas, cobertores de botellas, y muchas mas, es magnífica. Y la manera como esta exhibida es bellísima…Me encanta! Espero que la disfruten tanto como yo.
