“Modern and clean”  was my first though, when I first looked at Ralph Lauren’s Manhattan apartment featured in October’s Elle Decor.

Angelo Donghia was commissioned to designed the Fifth Avenue duplex, and the result is a modern open space, chic and with simple lines. Love it!

“Moderno y limpio”  fue lo que pensé, cuando vi por primera vez el apartamento de Ralph Lauren en Manhattan, publicado por la revista Elled Decor en su edición de Octubre 2010.

Angelo Donghia fue el encargado de diseñar el duplex en la Quinta Avenida de Nueva York, y el resultado es un espacio abierto moderno, chic y  de lineas simples. Me encanta !

I love everything in Madeline Weinrib’s atelier.  Stunning colors, and whimsy patterns seems to be the staple of this textile designer. Her graphic rugs, fabrics and wallpaper are favorites among interior designers.  Her  interpretations of Ikat and Suzani are my absolute top choices. I love the contrast of an ethic  pattern with a bold color combination.

Madeline’s Manhattan apartment was published in Elle magazine in December 2008. I was curious to see her apartment and see how she combined different items and patterns from her own line. I think she found a perfect balance on that mix of multicultural pieces, which is not easy to do in small spaces. She created a charming and cozy atmosphere.

Me encanta todo lo del atelier de Madeline Weinrib. Colores fascinantes, e increíbles estampados parecen ser el sello principal de esta diseñadora textil. Sus gráficas alfombras, telas y papel tapiz son favoritos entre los diseñadores de interiores. Su interpretación de telas como Ikat y Suzani son mis selecciones predilectas. Me encanta el contraste de estampados étnicos  con colores llamativos. El apartamento de Madeline fue publicado en Elle Decor en diciembre del 2008. Yo tenia curiosidad de ver su apartamento y ver como había combinado los diferentes objetos y estampados de su propia linea. Yo pienso que encontró el balance perfecto en la mezcla de piezas multiculturales, lo cual no es fácil  de lograr en espacios pequeños. Ella ha creado una atmósfera acogedora  y encantadora.

Your home decor says a lot about you, and the way you live. There is something very intriguing about other people’s places. Your house is a reflection of who you are, almost like is a description of your personal style and vibe.

homey chic

Tod’s, the luxury goods firm, has been recently renovating many of its global flagship boutiques. The idea is to redesign the retail spaces, from typical sales floor, to a more contemporary and warm space. Bringing a more homey vibe to its costumer, with unique decorative pieces. You will feel like you are entering a chic home, instead of a store. I love this “Home Concept”,  way to go Tod’s !

Tod’s la marca de lujo Italiana, ha estado renovando muchas de sus tiendas principales. La idea es de rediseñar sus puntos de ventas, de tipico espacios comerciales, hacia un espacio mas contemporáneo y cálido. Ofreciendo  a sus clientes una sensación mas de casa, con piezas decorativas, originales y únicas. Te sentirás que entras a una casa muy chic, en vez de a una tienda. Me encanta este “Concepto de Casa”, así se hace Tod’s!

fab candles…

As all of you know by now, I love scented candles. I have them everywhere around my house. And now I am in love with Alexa Rodulfo’s collection of scented candles. All her candles are made in Grasse, the world’s capital of perfume. They do not only smell exquisite, they also last forever, and they are so pretty !!   Her scents are amazing:  Bois Sauvage, Bois d’Alexa, Bois Blanc etc, Look for them in Bergdorf Goodman (New York), Lane Crawford (Hong Kong), Colette (Paris), Liberty (London)….and I heard through the grapevine that two more fragances are coming to this repertoire pretty soon…

My favorite…Bois d’Amour, but you all knew that. Don’t you?

Como todos saben me encantan las velas aromáticas. Las tengo alrededor de toda mi casa. Y ahora estoy fascinada con la colección de velas de Alexa Rodulfo. Las cuáles son hechas en Grasse, la capital mundial del perfume. No solo huelen exquisito, sino que duran para siempre y son bellísimas !! What could be more fabulous than Dom Perignon paying tribute to the Pop Art icon Andy Warhol?  A unique collection of six bottles inspired by the pop colors sets used by Warhol. What could be more chic than a bar inspired by fashion icon Coco Chanel? Have a drink at the Bar Pleiades at The Surrey Hotel in New York and you will see what I am talking about.

With the art deco feel of the 1930’s, its black and white lacquer finishes and french doors, this new addition to the Café Boulud family just takes people-meeting on Madison Avenue to a new chic level.

Que puede ser mas chic que un bar inspirado en el icono de la moda Coco Chanel? Disfruta una copa en el Bar Pleiades del Hotel Surrey y podrán saber de que estoy hablando.

Con el marco del art deco de los años 1930, sus acabados laqueados en blanco y negro y puertas francesas, esta nueva adición a la familia del Café Boulud lleva el concepto de reunirse a otro nivel super chic.

When I saw these beautiful pictures, I  thought about the 4th of july  weekend. What a perfect setting to spend the holiday  weekend and see the display of fireworks. These outdoor patios and terraces  look so cozy and chic, it is the perfect ambience for a party….Happy 4th of July to all !

Cuando vi estas fotos, me acordé del fin de semana del 4 de julio. Que lugar tan perfecto para disfrutar del fin de semana feriado y ver los fuegos artificiales. Estos patios externos y terrazas se ven tan acogedores y chic, el ambiente perfecto para una fiesta…Feliz 4 de julio para todos!

chin chin

Yesterday, I went to a local wine store to buy a couple of bottles of wine for my husband’s birthday dinner party. My friend Dieter is the store owner, and a wine expert who often visits the wine county in Napa Valley and its surroundings.

He told me that on his last trip to California he visited the Merus winery, and since I am a design enthusiast, he told me to check it out. I was very impressed with the design of Merus in Napa. It is very modern, sophisticated, and stylish. Designed by Uxus Design, the space is a mix of contemporary furnishings with a rustic vibe of underground cellar. Truly innovative and spectacular. Cheers !

Ayer, fui a una tienda para comprar unas botellas de  vino para la celebración del cumpleaños de mi esposo. Mi amigo Dieter el dueño de la tienda y experto en vinos, viaja con frecuencia al condado de vino en Napa Valley y sus alrededores.

Me comentó que en su último viaje a California había visitado el viñedo de Merus y como sabe que me encanta el diseño que lo buscára. Me quedé muy impresionada con el diseño de Merus en Napa. Es muy moderno y sofisticado. Diseñado por Uxus Design, el espacio es una mezcla de moderno con un toque rustico de bodega subterránea.  Verdaderamente innovador y espectacular. Salud !

southampton chic

This weekend, we where invited to a friend’s house for dinner. The decor was so impeccably and beautifully edited, that I had to ask the owner, if she was the mastermind behind it all. She told me that interior designer Hernan Arriaga had done all the work. I know Hernan personally, and have seen a couple of his projects, and I have to say they are all amazing. I would say his style is eclectic, and his work is always well balanced and sophisticated. When you enter a room, everything works, his interiors are super chic and refined. What I like best is that they look effortless, nothing is overdone.

I remember the article in Elle Decor magazine from last summer of Rita Noroña Schrager’s house in Southampton, which features Hernan’s work, I loved the natural tone color palette and how cool everything looked. I decided to post it, so you can see it for yourselves. Enjoy!

Este fin de semana fuimos invitados a una cena en casa de unos amigos. La decoración era tan impecable y perfectamente editada, que le pregunte a la dueña quien había hecho el trabajo de decoración. Me dijo que Hernan Arriaga había hecho el trabajo. Conozco a Hernan personalmente, y he visto un par de sus proyectos y tengo que decir que son todos increíbles. Diría que su estilo es ecléctico, y en su trabajo siempre esta presente el balance y la sofisticación. Cuando entras en cualquier área, todo funciona, sus interiores son chic y refinados,   lo que mas me gusta es que son cómodos, nada esta sobrecargado.

Me acorde del artículo que había visto el año pasado en la revista Elle Decor, de la casa de Rita Noroña Schrager en Southampton que fue decorada por Hernan, me acuerdo que me encantó la gama de colores naturales y  que todo estaba realizado de una manera naturalmente chic. Decidí publicarlo para que pudieran verlo. Que lo disfruten!
