“Modern and clean”  was my first though, when I first looked at Ralph Lauren’s Manhattan apartment featured in October’s Elle Decor.

Angelo Donghia was commissioned to designed the Fifth Avenue duplex, and the result is a modern open space, chic and with simple lines. Love it!

“Moderno y limpio”  fue lo que pensé, cuando vi por primera vez el apartamento de Ralph Lauren en Manhattan, publicado por la revista Elled Decor en su edición de Octubre 2010.

Angelo Donghia fue el encargado de diseñar el duplex en la Quinta Avenida de Nueva York, y el resultado es un espacio abierto moderno, chic y  de lineas simples. Me encanta !

I love everything in Madeline Weinrib’s atelier.  Stunning colors, and whimsy patterns seems to be the staple of this textile designer. Her graphic rugs, fabrics and wallpaper are favorites among interior designers.  Her  interpretations of Ikat and Suzani are my absolute top choices. I love the contrast of an ethic  pattern with a bold color combination.

The line is featured in ABC Carpet & Home in New York, but you can go through her web site www.madelineweinrib.com and take a look of her whole collection.

Madeline’s Manhattan apartment was published in Elle magazine in December 2008. I was curious to see her apartment and see how she combined different items and patterns from her own line. I think she found a perfect balance on that mix of multicultural pieces, which is not easy to do in small spaces. She created a charming and cozy atmosphere.

Me encanta todo lo del atelier de Madeline Weinrib. Colores fascinantes, e increíbles estampados parecen ser el sello principal de esta diseñadora textil. Sus gráficas alfombras, telas y papel tapiz son favoritos entre los diseñadores de interiores. Su interpretación de telas como Ikat y Suzani son mis selecciones predilectas. Me encanta el contraste de estampados étnicos  con colores llamativos. La linea se encuentra en la tienda ABC Carpet & Home en Nueva York, pero através de su pagina web www.madelineweinrib.com puedes ver toda la coleción.

El apartamento de Madeline fue publicado en Elle Decor en diciembre del 2008. Yo tenia curiosidad de ver su apartamento y ver como había combinado los diferentes objetos y estampados de su propia linea. Yo pienso que encontró el balance perfecto en la mezcla de piezas multiculturales, lo cual no es fácil  de lograr en espacios pequeños. Ella ha creado una atmósfera acogedora  y encantadora.

The list of projects came  from firms wanting to make an impact on arquitecture and design. 38 countries submitted their projects on different categories. All of them are innovative and different, it is hard to pick a favorite. Enjoy !

frisco tea

My friend MF went to San Francisco for summer vacation with her 4 kids. I called her a couple of days ago, and she immediately told me “You have to write a post about this place for your blog” and she was right. Crown and Crumpet is a tearoom filled with stylish elements,  and top-food. Their tea sandwiches and sconces are famous!

The decor is vibrant and different. By looking at the pictures, you can see the charming and inviting atmosphere of the place, filled with charm and coziness. Don’t you think it’s really cute and chic?

Mi amiga MF se fue a San Francisco por el verano con sus 4 niños. La llame hace un par de dias, e inmediatamente me dijo “tienes que escribir de este sitio en tu blog” y estaba en lo correcto. Crown and Crumpet es un salón de té lleno de estilo y con comida top.  Sus bocadillos son famosos!

La decoración es llamativa y diferente. Al ver las fotos, veras la atmósfera acogedora del lugar, llena de encanto y calidez. No te parece realmente atractiva y chic?

fab furniture …

I am  in awe with Bottega Venetta’s furniture line. Its pieces are versatile, understated and beautifully crafted. Bottega Venetta imprinted luxurious materials and unbelievable aesthetics to its furniture collection.

This year at Milan’s Salon Del Mobile, the world most important design fair, Bottega presented many new additions to its line, including tables, chests, dressers, seats, desks and the line of porcelain and flatware.

Estoy impresionada con la línea de muebles de Bottega Venetta. Sus piezas son versátiles, discretas y bellamente trabajadas. Bottega Venetta deja su huella de materiales lujosos e increíble estética a su coleción de muebles.

Este año, en la feria más importante de diseño, el Salon del Mueble en Milán, Bottega incorporó muchas adiciones a su línea, incluyendo mesas, sillas, cómodas, escritorios y la línea de porcelana y cubertería.

What a great collaboration between Italian sparkling water company San Pellegrino and italian fashion house Missoni!!!

San Pellegrino’s  water bottle is covered with Missoni’s signiture pattern. This is a first collaboration of many more to come, wherein San Pellegrino will work with leading designers, musicians, artist, etc, showcasing Italian, design and culture.

Que magnífica colaboración entre la compañia italiana de agua con gas San Pellegrino y la casa de moda italiana Missioni!!

La botella de agua San Pellegrino esta cubierta con el estampado típico de la firma Missoni. Esta es la primera colaboración de muchas más, en las cuales San Pellegrino trabajará con destacados diseñadores, músicos, artistas, etc, para mostrar el diseño y la cultura italiana.

What could be more chic than a bar inspired by fashion icon Coco Chanel? Have a drink at the Bar Pleiades at The Surrey Hotel in New York and you will see what I am talking about.

With the art deco feel of the 1930’s, its black and white lacquer finishes and french doors, this new addition to the Café Boulud family just takes people-meeting on Madison Avenue to a new chic level.

Que puede ser mas chic que un bar inspirado en el icono de la moda Coco Chanel? Disfruta una copa en el Bar Pleiades del Hotel Surrey y podrán saber de que estoy hablando.

Con el marco del art deco de los años 1930, sus acabados laqueados en blanco y negro y puertas francesas, esta nueva adición a la familia del Café Boulud lleva el concepto de reunirse a otro nivel super chic.

alfa birthday

One hundred years ago, Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili or Alfa was founded in Milan, Italy. As of last Thursday June 24,  Alfa Romeo is being celebrated worldwide, especially in Milan.

I love vintage Alfa Romeos,  they are truly classic and very stylish cars.

I recently watched Dustin Hoffman in the 1967 movie “The Graduate”, in which he  drove an open top Alfa Romeo,  looking so effortless and classic.  Another great movie scene shows Javier Bardem in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” driving around Barcelona’s countryside looking very cool in an Alfa Spider.

Hace cien años, Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili o Alfa fué fundada en Milan, Italia. Desde el pasado jueves 24 de Junio, Alfa Romeo está siendo celebrada alrededor del mundo, especialmente en Milán.

A mi me encanta los Alfa Romeos clásicos.

Recientemente vi la película “El Graduado” del 1967 con Dustin Hoffman, en la cual sale manejando un Alfa Romeo convertible donde se veía casual y clásico. Otra escena fabulosa es la de Javier Bardem en “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”,  manejando alrededor de Barcelona en un Alfa Spider y luciendo muy cool.

Encontré unas fotos muy buenas de Alfa Romeos que aparecen en  películas, espero que las disfruten. Buon compleanno  Alfa!!

olé

Today my husband and I were invited to see the soccer match between Spain and Portugal at a friend’s house. He is from Spain and an avid collector of amazing things. One of my favorite,  that I admire most every time I visit his home, is his bullfighter’s suits collection, it is truly stunning.

Even though for some people bullfighting is an art, I have to say I don’t enjoy this spectacle. But for me the way the suits are made is truly remarkable.  Their cut and embroidery is always  handmade with silver or gold threads, no detail is spared.These suits are so elaborate and their design is so beautifully crafted, that in my opinion, this is truly the art.

Hoy mi esposo y yo fuimos invitados a ver el partido de fútbol entre España y Portugal en casa de un amigo. El es de España y es un avido coleccionista de cosas increíbles. Una de las colecciones que mas admiro cuando voy a su casa, es su colección de “trajes de luces”, es algo verdaderamente espectacular.

Se que para algunos el toreo es un arte, tengo que decir que no disfruto mucho de este espectáculo. Pero la manera como están hechos estos trajes es verdaderamente algo especial. El corte y el bordado son siempre hechos a mano con hilos de plata y oro, no falta ningún detalle. Estos trajes son tan elaborados y sus diseños tan bonitos, que eso es para mi el verdadero arte.

aluminum wonder

In the studio of British artist Thomas Heatherwick, extraordinary projects are always in development.

After 18 years in the making, this sculptural seat is made of a single piece of extruded aluminum, without any fixtures or fittings. This piece is truly impressive and would make a statement anywhere.

All the pieces are signed and numbered by the artist.

En el estudio del artista Británico Thomas Heatherwick, siempre hay grandes proyectos en desarrollo. Después de 18 años, esta silla se ha hecho con una sola pieza de aluminio, sin encuentros ni herrajes. Estas piezas esculturales son verdaderamente sorprendentes. Todas firmadas y numeradas por el artista.

Isn’t Ikat a wonderful, colorful fabric?  I think it is great for everything. From decor to clothing. I love the colors and the patterns of this fabric, they are so bold, beautiful and uplifting.

First time I set foot in Miami’s super chic Casa Tua, I was blown away not only by its amazing food and homey vibe, but by it’s beautiful interiors, designed by world-renowned architect/designer Michele Bonan.

I have always been a huge admirer and follower of Bonan’s work. I love the eclecticism of his projects. The way he mixes furniture with monochromatic colors, art, books etc. He definitely has an amazing vision and aesthetics. One of my all time favorites!

La primera vez que fui a Casa Tua en Miami, me quedé impresionada, no solo por  la fabulosa comida de este restaurante, sino por los bellísimos espacios interiores decorados por el renombrado arquitecto/diseñador Michele Bonan.

Yo siempre he sido una gran admiradora y seguidora de su trabajo. Me encanta el eclecticismo de sus proyectos. Y la manera como mezcla muebles con colores monocromáticos, arte, libros, etc. Definitivamente tiene una visión y una estética impresionante. Uno de mis favoritos!

oh deer…

I have to confess…. I am not a very good cook, but I really try my best, and that counts. Yesterday walking trough Whole Foods,  I saw this pancake and waffle mix,  by Dancing Deer Baking Co. I thought the packaging had a beautiful design, very cute and creative.

Well….not only the packaging has a beautiful design, but the mix is so great, and  easy to do…. My pancakes turned out to be so delicious… sunday brunch would never be the same !!!

Tengo que confesar , que no soy muy buena en la cocina, pero siempre hago el intento, y eso cuenta. Ayer caminando por Whole Foods, vi este mix para panquecas y waffles, de Dancing Deer Baking Co. Me llamo la atención  el diseño tan original y bonito del empaque. Bueno… no solo el empaque  tiene un bello diseño, pero el mix es fabuloso y fácil de hacer….Mis panquecas estuvieron deliciosas…el brunch de los domingos nunca volvera a ser el mismo!!
