all-american glam

“Modern and clean”  was my first though, when I first looked at Ralph Lauren’s Manhattan apartment featured in October’s Elle Decor.

Angelo Donghia was commissioned to designed the Fifth Avenue duplex, and the result is a modern open space, chic and with simple lines. Love it!

“Moderno y limpio”  fue lo que pensé, cuando vi por primera vez el apartamento de Ralph Lauren en Manhattan, publicado por la revista Elled Decor en su edición de Octubre 2010.

Angelo Donghia fue el encargado de diseñar el duplex en la Quinta Avenida de Nueva York, y el resultado es un espacio abierto moderno, chic y  de lineas simples. Me encanta !

For many people, the closet is a very important part of the house. The space that contains your wardrobe is a reflection of your personal style, and taste. Taking a peak at others people’s closets and looking at their clothes, shoes and personal accessories is like taking a peak on their personal lives. Just keep it hush hush!

bohemian chic

Relaxed bohemian chic, are the perfect words to describe Hollywood’s latest boutique hotel The Redbury. Celebrity photographer and video producer Mathew Rolston, was enlisted to develop and launch this hip project.

The eclectic decor of the 57 studios is cozy and different. They have a homey feel to them. Outfitted with quirky antiques from local LA flea markets, exotic fabrics with patterns like Suzani and Ikat, Persian rugs, english inspired wallpapers and prints etc, this hotel has unmatched style and charm!

Chic bohemio y relajado, son las palabras perfectas para describir el nuevo hotel boutique de Hollywood llamado The Redbury. El fotografo de celebridades y productor de videos Mathew Rolston, fue el encargado de desarrollar y lanzar este proyecto trendy.

La decoración ecléctica de los 57 estudios es acogedora y diferente. Ofrece la sensación de estar en casa. Equipados con peculiares antigüedades de mercadillos locales de Los Angeles, telas exóticas con estampados como Suzani y Ikat, alfombras persas, papel tapiz y grabados de inspiración inglesa etc, este hotel tiene un encanto y un estilo sin igual!

I love everything in Madeline Weinrib’s atelier.  Stunning colors, and whimsy patterns seems to be the staple of this textile designer. Her graphic rugs, fabrics and wallpaper are favorites among interior designers.  Her  interpretations of Ikat and Suzani are my absolute top choices. I love the contrast of an ethic  pattern with a bold color combination.

The line is featured in ABC Carpet & Home in New York, but you can go through her web site www.madelineweinrib.com and take a look of her whole collection.

Madeline’s Manhattan apartment was published in Elle magazine in December 2008. I was curious to see her apartment and see how she combined different items and patterns from her own line. I think she found a perfect balance on that mix of multicultural pieces, which is not easy to do in small spaces. She created a charming and cozy atmosphere.

Me encanta todo lo del atelier de Madeline Weinrib. Colores fascinantes, e increíbles estampados parecen ser el sello principal de esta diseñadora textil. Sus gráficas alfombras, telas y papel tapiz son favoritos entre los diseñadores de interiores. Su interpretación de telas como Ikat y Suzani son mis selecciones predilectas. Me encanta el contraste de estampados étnicos  con colores llamativos. La linea se encuentra en la tienda ABC Carpet & Home en Nueva York, pero através de su pagina web www.madelineweinrib.com puedes ver toda la coleción.

El apartamento de Madeline fue publicado en Elle Decor en diciembre del 2008. Yo tenia curiosidad de ver su apartamento y ver como había combinado los diferentes objetos y estampados de su propia linea. Yo pienso que encontró el balance perfecto en la mezcla de piezas multiculturales, lo cual no es fácil  de lograr en espacios pequeños. Ella ha creado una atmósfera acogedora  y encantadora.

miami nice

Yesterday I went to have dinner at my friends Cucú’s house here in Miami. I love her home, because it really exemplifies what Miami is all about. Her house decor is fun, creative and innovative. It has tons of color and a wonderful mix of pieces that she has bought all over the world. I remember looking at the amazing house of Doug Meyer, featured in June’s 2009 Metropolitan Home , the pictures reminded me a lot of the style and feeling of Cucu’s house. Just beautiful and colorful!

Love the mixture of color.

Ayer fuí a una cena en casa de mi amiga Cucu aquí en Miami. Me encanta su casa, porque verdaderamente personifica lo que es Miami. Su decoración es divertida, creativa y casual.  Tiene cantidad de color y una mezcla de piezas que ha ido comprando alrededor del mundo.  Me acorde de haber visto la increíble casa del diseñador Doug Meyer,publicada en Metropolitan Home en Junio del 2009, las fotos me acordaron mucho al estilo y ambiente de la casa de Cucu. Bellísimo y colorido !

In yesterday’s post, oh val…, something caught my eye. I always loved blue and white porcelain and after seeing that Valentino has quite a few of them everywhere around his apartment I was marveled. Perfection is a word associated with everything that designer Valentino set his eyes on.  His fifth avenue pied-à-terre in NY is no exception. With the collaboration of master interior designer Jacques Grange, every room exudes elegance. Attention to detail, was not spare anywhere. And the presence of unique objets d’art make this place just …perfect!

Perfección es una palabra asociada a todo lo que el diseñador Valentino pone en su mira.  Su apartamento en la quinta avenida de NY no es una excepción. Con la colaboración del gran diseñador de interiores Jacques Grange, cada cuarto exuda elegancia. La atención hacia cada detalle, no fue dispensada en ningún lugar. Y la presencia de objetos de arte únicos convierten a este lugar en un lugar…perfecto!

ottoman empire

I have always loved the idea of using an ottoman as a coffee table. It is practical and looks great.

I am trying to decide if I want something simple and classic, or take the risk with something more contemporary.

Doing a little research I found some great ideas.  Here they are.

Siempre me ha encantado la idea de usar un ottoman como mesa de centro. Es practico   y se ve increíble.

Todavía  no he decidido  que estilo  es el correcto. He estado tratando de descifrar si quiero algo mas simple y clásico, o tomar el riesgo con algo mas contemporáneo.

Investigando un poco encontré  unas ideas, y escogí algunas fotos para ponerlas en el blog. Yo creo que estoy lista para decidirme!

frisco tea

My friend MF went to San Francisco for summer vacation with her 4 kids. I called her a couple of days ago, and she immediately told me “You have to write a post about this place for your blog” and she was right. Crown and Crumpet is a tearoom filled with stylish elements,  and top-food. Their tea sandwiches and sconces are famous!

The decor is vibrant and different. By looking at the pictures, you can see the charming and inviting atmosphere of the place, filled with charm and coziness. Don’t you think it’s really cute and chic?

Mi amiga MF se fue a San Francisco por el verano con sus 4 niños. La llame hace un par de dias, e inmediatamente me dijo “tienes que escribir de este sitio en tu blog” y estaba en lo correcto. Crown and Crumpet es un salón de té lleno de estilo y con comida top.  Sus bocadillos son famosos!

La decoración es llamativa y diferente. Al ver las fotos, veras la atmósfera acogedora del lugar, llena de encanto y calidez. No te parece realmente atractiva y chic?

fab furniture …

I am  in awe with Bottega Venetta’s furniture line. Its pieces are versatile, understated and beautifully crafted. Bottega Venetta imprinted luxurious materials and unbelievable aesthetics to its furniture collection.

This year at Milan’s Salon Del Mobile, the world most important design fair, Bottega presented many new additions to its line, including tables, chests, dressers, seats, desks and the line of porcelain and flatware.

Estoy impresionada con la línea de muebles de Bottega Venetta. Sus piezas son versátiles, discretas y bellamente trabajadas. Bottega Venetta deja su huella de materiales lujosos e increíble estética a su coleción de muebles.

What a great collaboration between Italian sparkling water company San Pellegrino and italian fashion house Missoni!!!

San Pellegrino’s  water bottle is covered with Missoni’s signiture pattern. This is a first collaboration of many more to come, wherein San Pellegrino will work with leading designers, musicians, artist, etc, showcasing Italian, design and culture.

Que magnífica colaboración entre la compañia italiana de agua con gas San Pellegrino y la casa de moda italiana Missioni!!

La botella de agua San Pellegrino esta cubierta con el estampado típico de la firma Missoni. Esta es la primera colaboración de muchas más, en las cuales San Pellegrino trabajará con destacados diseñadores, músicos, artistas, etc, para mostrar el diseño y la cultura italiana.

homey chic

Tod’s, the luxury goods firm, has been recently renovating many of its global flagship boutiques. The idea is to redesign the retail spaces, from typical sales floor, to a more contemporary and warm space. Bringing a more homey vibe to its costumer, with unique decorative pieces. You will feel like you are entering a chic home, instead of a store. I love this “Home Concept”,  way to go Tod’s !

Tod’s la marca de lujo Italiana, ha estado renovando muchas de sus tiendas principales. La idea es de rediseñar sus puntos de ventas, de tipico espacios comerciales, hacia un espacio mas contemporáneo y cálido. Ofreciendo  a sus clientes una sensación mas de casa, con piezas decorativas, originales y únicas. Te sentirás que entras a una casa muy chic, en vez de a una tienda. Me encanta este “Concepto de Casa”, así se hace Tod’s!

hang over

Instead of spring cleaning, I do summer cleaning. I have been looking at some boxes that I had in storage to decide the fate of things that I haven’t seen in quite a while. I have a couple of boxes of antique prints, old family pictures, vintage images etc.

While I was having lunch with a  friend of mine, who has amazing taste and style, she said : “Hang them, hang them all together”. And even though I haven’t decided yet, I find the idea very appealing.

I found some great pictures with different styles of wall art, everything is mixed together, and I really like the look.  It is cozy and personal.  I love the idea of walking by these walls and looking at all the frames, pictures and images that I have been collecting during the years. Super charming!

En vez de limpieza de primavera. Yo hago limpieza de verano. He estado revisando algunas cajas que tenía en un depósito para decidir el destino de algunas cosas que no usado en algún tiempo. Tengo  grabados antiguos, fotografías familiares, imágenes antiguas, etc.

Mientras almorzaba con una amiga, que tiene muy buen gusto y estilo, me dijo:  ” Guindalos, guindalos todos juntos”. Y aunque todavia no me he decidido, la idea me parece interesante.

Encontre unas fotografías, con diferentes estilos de arte, todos combinados juntos, y se ve muy atractivo. Es muy acogedor y personal. Me encanta la idea de caminar junto a estas paredes y ver todos los marcos, fotos, e imagenes que he coleccionado através de los años. Super agradable!

island house

I love summer, and enjoying the beach as much as I can is a must for me !!  This weekend, I am going to a friend’s beach house. The house reminds me so much of India Hicks’ house in Harbour Island, featured in the book Island Life.  It is simple, cozy, full of charm and super chic. (pics below)

I am so excited, that I am already packing and bringing her a “shell gift” as I do every summer. I know she will love it !!

Me encanta el verano, y disfrutar de la playa, es obligatorio para mi!!  Este fin de semana, voy a la casa de playa de una amiga. Su casa me recuerda mucho a la casa de India Hicks en Harbour Island, la cual fue publicada en el libro Island Life. Es simple, acogedora, llena de encanto y super chic. (ver fotos)

Estoy tan contenta, que ya estoy empacando, y llevo conmigo “regalo de caracol”  como todos los veranos. Espero que le guste!!

at mad

What could be more chic than a bar inspired by fashion icon Coco Chanel? Have a drink at the Bar Pleiades at The Surrey Hotel in New York and you will see what I am talking about.

With the art deco feel of the 1930’s, its black and white lacquer finishes and french doors, this new addition to the Café Boulud family just takes people-meeting on Madison Avenue to a new chic level.

Que puede ser mas chic que un bar inspirado en el icono de la moda Coco Chanel? Disfruta una copa en el Bar Pleiades del Hotel Surrey y podrán saber de que estoy hablando.

Con el marco del art deco de los años 1930, sus acabados laqueados en blanco y negro y puertas francesas, esta nueva adición a la familia del Café Boulud lleva el concepto de reunirse a otro nivel super chic.
